Vimukti Charitable Trust feels proud about
the progress of these units and the changes in the people and in the
areas we work. To commemorate the success of the Projects we had a
Decennial Celebration. On 13th May 2009 Vimukti Representatives from six
Districts participated along with all the women of Ujire Vimukti and the
Dignitaries and Guests.
The programme was held at Ujire. In the Morning the women had organized
a huge rally. Meenakshi Talawar of Chikkodi unit inaugurated the rally
by speaking about the significance of women coming together to celebrate
this event and to start it with the rally. The colourful cultural
tableaus attracted the onlookers. Women dressed in uniform and few with
colorful dresses depicting the local cultures and dances were the center
of attraction. The rally started from SDM College stadium towards the
temple ground, Ujire. There were more than 2,000 women who actively
participated in this program.
The program proper was held at Sri Janardhana Swamy temple premises
where a well decorated stage was put up. The Guests for the programme
were Rev. Fr. Vincent Furtado, the President Sri J. Krishna Palemar-
Minister of Ecology, Environment, Ports and Inland water Transport,
Government of Karnataka, was the inaugurator, Sri K. Vasantha Bangera (M.L.A.
Belthangady), Sri B.P. Gangadharaswamy (Program coordinator, CCF India,
Hyderabad) and Ms. Evelyn Benis (Director, Family Service Agency, Roshni
Nilaya, Mangalore) were present. The Resource Person, Smt. Vidya Dinakar
(Joint Coordinator, Citizen Forum for Mangalore Development instilled
hope, vigour and courage among women and the Women Representative Smt.
Saroja (President, Vimukti SHG Federation, Banakal were present on the
dais. All the guests appreciated the good humanitarian work done by the
Vimukti team and wished them all success in the future. Every guest
appreciated the good work carried on by the Trust and congratulated the
women for being partners of development under this organisation.
Felicitations were done to all the invited guests and special
recognition and honor was given to the animators who completed their ten
years of service in Vimukti. All the unit Directors were congratulated
and felicitated for having taken the leadership and taking the projects
to success. The staff share a large part of success in the Organisation
for their selfless and dedicated services. Every staff was felicitated
on this occasion by offering a memento as token of gratitude.
The post lunch program belonged to the women. Every unit presented
variety of cultural program. The age and health was not a hindrance to
the women as they sang and danced acted on the stage. All the programs
were based on the social issues and the positive change Vimukti brought
into the lives of the people. Plays on Women empowerment and NREGA and
Education issues were heart touching.
Totally it was a perfect stage for Vimukti beneficiaries to come
together share, interact, learn and grow. All women exhibited what they
have achieved all through 10 years of Vimukti's existence in 6 districts
of Karnataka. The grateful people returned back to their homes in the
evening carrying the memories and the spirit and vigour to continue to
the rest of the years.
